Telecommuting Training:  Measuring Results
Previous Next

For many managers, managing telecommuters won’t be much different from managing people who travel or who work in the field. But for those of you who are used to having their staff present in the office, telecommuting may require a different approach to knowing that the work is getting done.

Whether an employee is working on site or off site, the best way to judge performance is by measuring results. Knowing
what work is produced and the quality of the work produced is more important than where and how it is produced.

It is very important that you demonstrate leadership by giving clearly defined instructions and timelines, dates of checkpoints and ongoing feedback. The performance measures given in the telecommuter’s proposal form should be a resource.
